Results Pest Control Has the Experience, Equipment, and Expertise to Eradicate Rats and Other Rodents from Your Home for Good.

Rats

Rats have plagued many a California home and business. They move in almost undetected, and take up residence in your wall cavities, attics, basements, and storage spaces. Basically, anywhere that’s quiet, warm, and dark will attract them. The two most commonly found rat species in Sacramento, CA are the Norway rat and the roof rat.

Norway Rats

Norway rats are nocturnal. They can grow to be well over a foot long and have brown or dark-colored fur. They are often called sewer rats because they like damp, dark areas like septic tanks, sewers, and water-storage systems. They have powerful jaws—that’s what allows them to eat through wood, plaster, and wiring!

Great customer service, very reliable, excellent communication from texts to email reminders. Always goes above and beyond with each visit. Perfect example: We recently purchased our home and I noticed a dead rat in the pool cover assembly. Brad happened to be over that day and I asked him if it's ok if I toss it in the trash. He offered to retrieve it and dispose of it. One less thing to deal with and was on to fixing the next item on the list. Thank you Results Pest Control!

Roof rats

Roof rats, also known as black rats, are smaller than their Norway rat counterparts and less common. Roof rats are skilled climbers and usually prefer to build their nests in elevated areas. Like Norway rats, they are mainly active at night.

Are rats harmful?

Yes, their droppings and saliva are dangerous and can contaminate food and spread disease, as can the fleas and mites they carry. Rats can transmit salmonella, hantavirus, rat-bite fever, leptospirosis, typhus fever, and plague. They can also be a serious fire risk if they chew on electrical wires!

How do they get into my home or business?

They usually enter through the drains, spaces around pipes and wiring, or holes and gaps around the windows and doors. One of the first things we do when we carry out an inspection is to find where they are entering your property so that any vulnerable areas can be sealed.

What attracts them?

They’re attracted by any kind of food, piles of dirt or wood, trash, pet food, grain stores, birdseed, and rubbish or clutter of any kind.

How long do they live?

The average lifespan of a Norway rat is around two years. Roof rats live for around one year. All rats form colonies and breed constantly, with an adult female rat capable of producing up to 60 young a year.
